World Heroes Showdown at Lumpinee Stadium!
Chinese Promoter WHS to Launch Million-Baht Kickboxing Tournament at Iconic Lumpinee Stadium on July 20, 2025
In a significant development for the global combat sports scene, representatives from World Heroes Showdown (WHS)—a leading fight promotion based in China—recently met with executives of the historic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium to finalize plans for the third edition of the WHS Kickboxing Tournament, set to take place in Bangkok on July 20, 2025.
The high-stakes event will feature five weight classes: 57 kg, 61 kg, 66 kg, 71 kg, and 77 kg, each comprising 8 fighters from around the world. The tournament will adopt a round-robin points format, leading into the semifinals and culminating in championship bouts later this year. The overall winner in each division will take home a grand prize of 1.2 million baht, accumulated through progressive fight bonuses.
The tournament will be streamed live globally from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM (Thailand time), further cementing Lumpinee’s position on the international combat sports stage.
Kru Thongdaeng S. Lakkhana, head trainer of S. Tawanchai Gym and Thai representative for the WHS project, shared insights about the event’s significance:
“This tournament—WHS: World Heroes Showdown—has previously been held twice in Sanya, Hainan Province, China, and drew fighters from multiple countries. WHS chose Lumpinee for its third edition because it’s a globally recognized venue steeped in combat sports history. The Chinese team expressed their desire to bring the event to Thailand for cultural exchange and greater exposure.”
Thongdaeng also revealed that negotiations with Lumpinee officials have concluded successfully, with both parties officially signing off on the July 20 event.
“This will be the third installment of the WHS series, but the first ever held at Lumpinee Stadium. The structure involves all fighters in each division facing off in a round-robin format. Fighters accumulate points based on their performance, and the top scorers advance to the knockout stages.”
He added:
“Prize money increases with each win, and the fighter with the highest total points by the end will receive over 1 million baht. Then, the top-ranked fighters will compete in the finals for an additional cash prize. This platform not only provides a substantial opportunity for Thai fighters but also enriches their experience and elevates their global visibility.”
The WHS Kickboxing Tournament at Lumpinee is set to become a landmark event, blending international talent with Thailand’s legendary fight culture.
